I was recommend this restaurant from a friend of mine that lives in Japan, he gave me the direct contact of chef DAISUKE, what to say, hes a fantastic person and an amazing chef! We spent a beautiful evening eating one of the best sushi in Tokyo drinking top sake I will definitely go back

Best sushi of my life, not to be missed. Daisuke Shimazaki the GM is sooooo nice and prepares the best fish treats! One must make reservations by way of FB or by emails.

Best dining experience of my life. The price reflected that, but Sushi Yuu was amazing. Both chefs speak English fairly well and did a great job explaining everything and giving us the back story of the place. Make a reservation and ask to be seated at the counter. You sit and he feeds you what was fresh at Tsukiji that morning. It was one amazing bite after another. I never had to reach for soy sauce, he put on what he knew would compliment it best. Sometimes it was just salt with the fish.We rounded out the meal with dessert of macha pudding-ish thing his mom homemade and her homemade plum wine from 2012. It was really sweet. I was incredibly stuffed and full about ¾ the way through the meal but it was amazing and such an experience. The place looks like a normal house a few back streets away from the main drag in Roppongi.

Are here in 2013 and it incredible. An exceptionally memorable experience that I think frequently about to this day. Mr Shimazaki and his family were superbly hosts.

Every single time that I visit Tokyo, I have to have dinner at Sushi Yu. Daisuke (the chef) is one of the best out there and definitely deserves another Michelin Star!

Too easy to have the best sushi in Tokyo.

Excellent kaiseki style sushi experience. The chef is excellent, entertaining - 2nd generation (his father founded the establishment). The fish was all so fresh and there were plenty of courses. We were full before we even got to the end, definitely won't leave hungry! Staff are pleasant and consistently ensure your tea is refilled too.

One of the nicest and most value omakase in Tokyo. The chef Daisuke San is a friendly and funny guy. I've been here 3 times and never disappointed. Food quality is superb and you always come out with a full belly (I'm a big eater). Highly recommended!

This is the first high end sushi experience for us and I am not sure anything could be better. The menu was outstanding, Daisuke provided a warm and casual atmosphere that made us feel so welcome.Realised some dishes I have not liked in the past was obviously due to the produce being poorly prepared and not at the quality we experienced here.Thank you so much!

I come here everything I visit Tokyo. The sushi is world class and Dai makes the experience special. It's some of the best sushi I've had in my life and the ambiance is relaxed and comfortable.

The best meal we had during our 6 weeks in Tokyo!

Fish here was nice. We were really impressed by the quality of toro and squid. Loved the dish of toro with yam! However, the sushi rice was a bit disappointing. It’s a bit hard and not really sticky. I also found a lot of bones in one of the grilled fish dishes (and wasn’t warned by the chef).

I came to Japan for a 3 weeks holiday and this was one of the highlights of my trip. The sushi is delicious, super fresh fish, definitely the best I ever had. The atmosphere is super relaxed, mainly due to the very friendly chef, that speaks very good English. Highly recommend!

Sushi Yu is exceptional in every regard- from the service to the interior design to the food. By far the best dining experience we had in Tokyo. Daisuke and Masa are extremely talented and knowledgeable chefs!

Consistently my favorite spot in Tokyo. The sushi is outstanding (especially the flight of tuna), and the environment is relaxed and fun.

Best quality sushi.

Fantastic sushi. There is seating for 12 around the chef's area, and because of this, a traditional communal feel is achieved. We were not given a menu- instead, we were served entirely according on the chef's program. Wonderful hospitality and narration of our food by the chef throughout the evening.

An excellent place to have omakase sushi (chef’s choice). Daisuke is great at providing the highest quality and explaining where the different ingredients come from. Very Japanese, but open to foreigners.

Awesome Sushi - fresh and delicious but pricey. A very small and cozy restaurant that takes knowing to find it. Seats only about 12-15 people so call and book in advance. We got lucky with a walk in. The chef is friendly and tells you about the fish as he serves it. Was totally stuffed but the Sushi didn't stop coming.

Seriously amazing sushi and an extremely nice family staff. Each course was expertly prepared and explained in great detail. The plum wine might have been the peace de resistance... Made by the chefs mother who has a secret recipe she won't share. Not super expensive for quality omikaze, especially if you're from the SF Bay Area where everything is ridiculously priced.

A little too expensive for the level of the restaurant but the food is great.

Best sushi ever. Had a great experience. High quality fish served with great esthetics. You sit along a bar and receive a fix menu of some of the finest fish around. Enjoyed every minute. The chef explains every dish. Would definitely recommend it

So good!!! Everything was perfect, from food to service. The funniest and friendliest sushi chef I’ve encountered, and he speaks pretty good english! There were roughly 20-25 course, I was so full by the end of the meal, I wish I hadn’t eat lunch. My favourite was the scallop and seaweed appetizer, sushi: squid, tuna, seared tuna, uni, sea eel, a fish similar to herring, radish shoot, and the matcha mouse.

We just finished dinner. My partner knows what she likes, so to have her enjoy a prepared menu so much is very rare. The only thing more rare than that is to have her ask me to write a review. Thank you Daisuke, friends, and Mother Daisuke for the extremely pleasant and impressive experience. I'd recommend this place to anyone, I feel like we got an experience we wouldn't get in the US easily. Best sushi I've had.
